Knitting Animal Hats with Crafty Magazine

Editor Sarah loves Vanessa Mooncie's Animal Hats book so very much that she's inviting you all to knit the lion hat along with her. Follow her progress on this here blog!

Hi everyone, Sarah here! You might have noticed from reading past issues of Crafty (and from looking at my photograph) that I have a bit of a thing for Vanessa Mooncie's Animal Hats knitting book at the moment. There's a hat in it for everyone (more than one, in my case) and I'm not going to rest until I've knitted them all!

So what I propose is this: you join me in a knit along, making the rather amazing lion hat on page 54! I'm by no means an expert with the needles, having only started to learn last year, so even if you don't fancy taking part you can at least come along and giggle at all my rookie errors. I'm knitting it for my nephew so may finish before all of you doing the adult size... but probably not as I'm still woefully slow and still don't know how to pick up stitches, so when I make a mistake I invariably rip it back and start again!

Watch out for my weekly posts with progress updates on the Crafty website. Who's with me? If you'd like to take part, you can pick up the wool you need - 3 100g balls of Erika Knight Fat Maxi Wool - from a variety of online stockists. And you can get the Animal Hats book from Amazon.

So don't forget to keep coming back to find out how I'm getting on. Hope to see you here. Till next time, Crafty folks! There's knitting to be done!
