If you've reached the point where you're seriously thinking of turning your craft hobby into a creative business, then one of the first things you should do is seek out some advice from people in the know, who've been there and done that and are now living the crafty dream, selling their wares and making a living from it.
There are lots of events going on throughout the year to help you in this regard, with one of the newest being Design Your Career, a one-day conference in Bermondsey in London on October 19th, where you can network to your heart's content, get insider tips and sign up for lots of workshops to help you build up your skills.
If you've got your beady eye on being listed by Not on the High Street, you'd better go along as well, as the company's going to be holding drop-in sessions offering people one-on-one advice about selling products on the internet and how to get accepted on their platform - invaluable as only some five per cent of all businesses that apply are successful.
Other Crafty faves will be in residence as well, including the one and only Perri Lewis, The Contemporary Craft Festival, The Design Trust and Create a Craft Business, among others - so if you're serious about taking your crafting to the next level, we highly recommend you attend. Tickets cost £40 for the day and can be bought from the Design Your Career website.
We'll be there as well so make sure you seek us out to say hello.
